8,000 DWP Customers Without Power In Silverlake After Vault Explosion

SILVERLAKE (CBSLA.com) — Thousands of Department of Water and Power customers throughout the Silverlake area lost power Tuesday night after an explosion in a vault.

Nearly 17,000 customers were originally affected by the explosion, the Los Angeles Times reported. By 10:50 p.m., that number was reduced to 8,000.

An alert suggested power may not be restored until 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
