Natural Gas Line Damaged In North Hollywood

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A construction crew damaged an underground natural gas line in North Hollywood Tuesday, but no one was hurt.

The problem was reported in the 10800 block of Victory Boulevard at about 8 a.m., according to Margaret Stewart with the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A third-party construction crew damaged a 3/4-inch steel service line, Sergio Jimenez of the Southern California Gas Co.

"SoCal Gas crews responded quickly and brought gas under control at 9 a.m.," Jimenez said.

Utility company crews were sent to repair the line. No evacuations were ordered.

Anyone who smells natural gas, hears the sound of gas escaping, or becomes aware of other signs of a leak should go to a safe location and cal SoCal Gas immediately at (800) 427-2200, or 911.
