Murder Suspect Durst Briefly Hospitalized, Hearing Delayed

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Multimillionaire real estate heir Robert Durst was briefly hospitalized, leading to the postponement of a long-running hearing in his murder case.

The Los Angeles Times reports Durst was expected to appear in court Thursday, but a bailiff told his defense team he had been hospitalized overnight. The bailiff said Durst was already out of the hospital and back in jail, but did not return in time to come to court.

It's not clear what Durst's medical problem was.

A retired New York police detective had been scheduled to give a third day of testimony in the hearing. It's now postponed until Nov. 28.

Durst is facing murder charges in the 2000 killing of one of his closest friends, Susan Berman. He has pleaded not guilty.
