Multiple lanes closed on 210 in Monrovia after big rig overturns

Overturned big rig causing backups on 210 Freeway in Monrovia

The 210 Freeway is back open in Monrovia after an overturned big rig blocked traffic Tuesday morning as drivers commuted in the rainy conditions.

The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. near Huntington Drive, which caused a series of other crashes that involved three big rigs and at least two or three other vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.

During the incident, one big rig slammed in a freeway wall, knocking part of the cement onto the roadway.

Caltrans responded to the scene and closed multiple lanes as they worked to clear the scene.

Authorities said two people were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

At 8 a.m., traffic was moving 3 mph and it will take 58 minutes to drive 4 miles, from Rosemead Boulevard to Huntington Drive.

It is unclear at this time if the inclement weather conditions were a factor in the accident.

All lanes on the EB 210 Freeway reopened around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
