Mudflows in Fish FIre burn scar area

After minor overnight mudslides in the Duarte Fish Fire burn scar prompted street closures, the city of Duarte reported the mudflow alert is to be lifted at 8 p.m.

Several streets were closed this morning and early afternoon due to debris in the roadway, including Mel Canyon Road. As rain subsided around noon, crews worked to clean up the roadway, and it is now reopened.

The City of Duarte will move the Fish Fire Impact Area to a green alert level at 6 p.m. Parking restrictions for the 25 homes on Mel Canyon Road from Brookridge Road to Fish Canyon Road will be lifted.     

No major damage was reported from the City of Duarte.

Valley View Elementary School is still open Tuesday and will have classes as normal.

The National Weather Service is predicting more storm activity this weekend. L.A. County Public Works and Duarte Public Safety staff will continue to assess weather conditions and update residents as needed.
