Mountain High Resort Opens For Winter Season In Wrightwood

WRIGHTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Recent storms that struck Southern California left a silver lining, bringing fresh natural snow to Mountain High Resort.

Officials have worked to prepare snow conditions for the early season Sunday, which officially reopens at 8:30 a.m. on the West side of the mountain.

KCAL9's Joy Benedict spoke with Kim Hermon at the resort, who reported the recent storms offered perfect conditions for skiing and snowboarding after closing due to heavy rain for several days.

"We've been able to make snow around the clock," Hermon said. "With the forecast ahead, it looks like we're going to continue to receive snow."

On Friday, heavy storms dumped about six to eight inches of natural snow in the area.

With the addition of man made snow, the mountain offers about eight to 10 inches of packed snow at this time.

Early season rates cost about $45 for adults, and $25 for children. For more information, click here.

The mountain will remain open until 10:00 p.m., offering about five hours of night skiing to customers.

"Get your skis and snowboards ready and come on up!," Hermon added.
