Motorist -- Possibly Male -- Crushed To Death In LA Traffic Accident

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) Authorities said a driver -- believed to be a man -- was crushed to death Sunday after running a red light and slamming into a tanker truck.

The incident occurred in South Los Angeles at El Segundo Boulevard and South Figueroa Street just before 2:50 a.m. Sunday, according to a sergeant with the LAPD.

The deceased, driving a compact gray vehicle, was going northbound on Figueroa when he drove through the red light and rear ended the  truck that was going eastbound on El Segundo Boulevard, the sergeant said.

The driver of the gray compact was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Authorities believe the victim is male "because of the clothing."

The man driving the tanker truck and another motorist the tanker slammed into on impact had complaints of pain, the sergeant said.

It was not immediately known whether the other two drivers were transported to an area hospital.
