Motorcyclist Killed In Crash On 105 Freeway Ramp Near LAX

EL SEGUNDO (CBSLA.com) — A motorcyclist was killed late Saturday night after striking a wall and light pole and falling 45 feet off an elevated 105 Freeway onto Imperial Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Richard Moore, 36, of Los Angeles, was driving up the entrance ramp from Imperial Highway, just east of Sepulveda Boulevard, at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the 2002 Suzuki motorcycle, according to CHP Officer Pete Bishop and the crash report.

The motorcycle hit a barrier wall, the crash report says, and Moore was thrown off. He then hit a light pole and fell over the side of the on-ramp bridge, which is located just south of Los Angeles International Airport.

According to witnesses, other vehicles crashed as drivers tried to avoid Moore. Both the ramp and Imperial Highway were closed for about an hour after the 11:55 p.m. crash.
