Motorcyclist Killed In 605 Freeway Collision With Big Rig Identified

INDUSTRY (CBSLA.com) — A motorcyclist killed Friday on the 605 Freeway after colliding with a big rig has been identified.

The California Highway Patrol says Manuel Paleo -- a 20-year-old Los Angeles resident -- was killed at 7:30 p.m. on the southbound 605 near Peck Road.

According to the CHP's preliminary investigation, Paleo was riding a 2002 Honda when he attempted to use the right shoulder to pass a 2014 Peterbilt big rig.

The left side of Paleo's bike apparently struck the front of the big rig, according to the CHP. The victim was thrown from his bike and then run over by the truck.

Paleo died at the scene, according to the CHP.

The driver of the big rig, 40-year-old Jesus Figueroa of Norwalk, was uninjured, the CHP said.
