Motorcyclist Killed In 5 Freeway Crash Near Lincoln Heights

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A motorcyclist was killed Saturday morning on the southbound 5 Freeway at Mission Road, near Lincoln Heights, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 9:47 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, and involved another motorist as well. The motorcycle eventually struck the center divider, killing the driver, whose identity has not been released.

A representative of the coroner's office was sent to the scene about an hour after the crash, which tied up several freeways the rest of the morning. Emergency responders had problems reaching the scene as traffic blocked access just north of the 10 Freeway.

Lanes gradually reopened just after noon, but significant delays were reported on the 2, 5, 110 and 134 into Burbank, Glendale and South Pasadena.
