Motorcyclist Killed After Crashing Into Los Angeles River

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A 35-year-old man was killed Saturday night after his motorcycle struck a guardrail on the 91 Freeway, and he was ejected into the Los Angeles River, authorities said.

Damien Phillips, of Los Angeles, was heading west on the 91 near Atlantic Avenue at an unknown speed when his2006 Yamaha motorcycle struck the right guardrail, according to the California Highway Patrol. He landed in the riverbed below, where Long Beach fire paramedics pronounced him dead at 11:05 p.m.

The crash was reported to the CHP at 10:30 p.m., authorities said.
