Motorcyclist, 59, Fatally Struck By Alleged DUI Driver In Lancaster

LANCASTER (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities said a 59-year-old motorcyclist was killed in Lancaster Sunday when he was struck by a pickup truck allegedly driven by a man under the influence.

The crash was reported about 2 p.m. at the intersection of East Avenue K and 90th Street East in Lancaster, according to the CHP.

The 2007 Nissan Frontier  truck was being driven northbound on  90th Street East by 57-year-old Javier Gomez-Pena of Lancaster when it rear-ended a 2005 Harley-Davidson that was stopped at stop sign at the intersection with Avenue K, according to the CHP.

The bike rider has been identified as Glenn A. Grimm of Lancaster.

Officials said Grimm was thrown from the bike onto the dirt shoulder. He was declared dead on scene, the CHP reported.

Gomez-Pena was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and was booked at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lancaster Station, according to the CHP.
