COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities said a 35-year-old Costa Mesa man was killed when he crashed his motorcycle while making the transition from the southbound 405 Freeway to the southbound 71 Freeway.

The CHP said Antonio Carranza was thrown from his bike when he lost control.

The accident occurred just after 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

The OC Coroner's report indicated Carranza also struck the center divider.

At the time of the crash, Carranza was "in an unknown lane and at an unknown speed, for undetermined reasons," said CHP Officer Florentino Olivera.
