Mother, Son Hit By Gunfire During South LA Birthday Party

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —   A mother and her 5-year-old son were struck by bullets Saturday during a birthday party in South Los Angeles.

Police said the victims were hit by gunfire believed to be gang-related.

The incident occurred in the 700 block of West 97th Street.

Authorities said a car pulled up to the location of the party when multiple shots were fired at the house.

The mother was shot in the chest and her son was shot in the arm.

Both of the victims are reported to be in stable condition at a nearby hospital.

Authorities said four suspects are at large.
