Mother Found Dead In Huntington Beach Home; Police Look For Ex-Boyfriend

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A mother of three was killed inside her Huntington Beach home Friday, and police were looking for the victim's ex-boyfriend.

Officers found the 50-year-old victim's body in her bedroom at about 1 p.m. at her home in the 9000 block of Litchfield Drive.

A friend of the suspect, Jason Becher, 41, asked police to do a welfare check based on comments that Becher had allegedly made, according to Huntington Beach police.

The woman's 16-year-old son was in the living room at the time but had no idea that his mother had been killed, neighbors told CBS2's Stacey Butler.

They also said the victim had filed a restraining order against Becher, but that did not stop him from trying to strangle her several months ago.

Neighbor Tony Terrazzi said she asked him for help. "I just felt like she was in trouble. She was in a violent relationship. I don't know if she knew how to get out of it. I don't know what it was. But I just felt like if I could be a male support and try to help out in some way, I would," Terrazzi said.

"She was the sweetest person as you ever want to meet. And this is absolutely senseless," another neighbor said.

"We're actually a pretty tight-knit group. We do a lot of activities together. And it just really saddens my heart that this happened so close to home," a third neighbor said.

Court records showed Becher served prison time for a violent crime.

Becher was last seen in 2015 white four-door Lexus ES350 with the California license plate of 7MZP290.

Police believed the suspect may have headed to Anaheim or Las Vegas.

Becher was described as white, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 195 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts was urged to call the Huntington Beach Police Information Hotline at (714) 375-5066.
