Mother Claims Bullied Son Suffered Cracked Skull, Brain Bleeds After Being Tripped

ARCADIA (CBSLA.com) — A mother took her case to the school board Tuesday night, as she seeks accountability from the school district after her young son suffered a cracked skull as a result of an apparent case of bullying.

Jenny Yang says her Jeremy, 7, suffered the fracture, as well as two brain bleeds, at Baldwin Stocker Elementary School in Arcadia in May after he was tripped by another boy.

"Trying to dismiss my son's injury as an accident does not do justice to him and a disservice to our school community," Yang said. "If we refuse to acknowledge that bullying behavior occurs, then we cannot even address it."

Yang spoke to community members at Tuesday's meeting, stating that the other boy had a history of misbehavior. She claims there were inconsistencies in the school investigation, recently posting her son's story over the Facebook page Justice For Jeremy, which has gathered a decent amount of attention.

Other parents have taken notice of the page and have offered their support.

The members of the board and school district maintain that there was no history of misbehavior in the boy, and the Arcadia Police Department found no wrongdoing.

The members released a statement, reading in part:

"A lengthy and complete investigation was conducted, and there were no findings of bullying or physical contact by another student."

Jeremy's parents, meanwhile, say the investigation implies her son may have tripped. Yang now wants an independent review, and what she calls more efficient handling of problems.
