Motel Evacuated In Van Nuys Over Possible Grenade

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A bomb squad evacuated a motel in Van Nuys Sunday afternoon after a possible grenade was found in one of the rooms.

Officers were dispatched at 3:15 p.m. to the La Posada Motel, at 7615 Sepulveda Boulevard, after being alerted to an alleged domestic disturbance between a man and a woman, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Mike Lopez said.

Police found a possible grenade at the scene, prompting them to evacuate the motel, neighboring businesses and some residents.

Lopez says a bomb squad was investigating whether the device was a live explosive.
