ALHAMBRA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Wednesday rescued more than three dozen dogs and cats from an Alhambra residence.

Los Angeles County Animal Control officers and Alhambra police discovered the animals while serving a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of South Meridian Avenue.

"The condition of the residence was deplorable, with animal feces and urine everywhere," police said.

Seventeen cats and 17 dogs were taken to an animal care facility, according to police.

No other details were immediately released.
