More Leaks Found On Broken Hollywood Water Main

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Crews Tuesday continued to repair a broken water main at a major Hollywood intersection.

The pipe burst around 4 p.m. Monday at Highland Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, the Department of Water and Power said.

Crews were finishing up their repairs early Tuesday when they encountered another leak on the same six-inch cast iron pipe.

Officials blame the problem on an infrastructure issue in the pipe, which is nearly 100 years old.

The DWP hopes to keep at least one lane in each direction open.
