2 Firefighters Injured While Battling Strip Mall Fire In Monterey Park

MONTEREY PARK (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters battled a four-alarm fire Thursday at a strip mall in Monterey Park.

The fire was reported around 1:30 a.m. in the 300 block of East Garvey Avenue.

Flames and smoke destroyed 10 businesses located in the strip mall.

A nearby building was evacuated as a precaution.

CBS2's Jasmine Viel reported two firefighters sustained shoulder injuries while battling the blaze.

Officials closed Garvey between Alhambra and Russell avenues for several hours.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
