Monterey Park Intersection Closed After Fatal Crash

MONTEREY PARK (CBSLA.com) — A Monterey Park intersection remained closed Friday morning after a fatal crash.

The accident took place around 10 p.m. Thursday at Garvey and Ramona avenues, officials said.

A driver of a white Cadillac was driving at a high rate of speed and weaving through traffic when it rammed into the rear of a BMW SUV.

The vehicle then flipped over several times. A passenger was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and rear passenger, as well has those in the BMW, suffered minor injuries.

Detectives were investigating if the driver of the Cadillac was under the influence of any substance.

It was unclear when the intersection was expected to reopen.
