Suspect, 18, Wounded In Montecito Heights Officer-Involved Shooting

MONTECITO HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com)  —    An 18-year-old  suspect has been wounded in an officer-involved shooting in Montecito Heights.

No officers were hurt in the incident.

The shooting occurred around 3 p.m. in the 4400 block of Turquoise Drive near Huntington Drive.

Police reportedly did a pedestrian stop.  Officials did not say what led to the stop.

At least one officer opened fire at the suspect. Police did not say if the suspect shot first or was brandishing a weapon. Later, officials said a handgun was recovered.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital. As of 10 p.m., the suspect was out of surgery and reported to be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Officers on scene remained tight-lipped about the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
