Montebello Crash Leaves Mother Dead, 2 Children Injured

MONTEBELLO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a woman has died after an accident in Montebello that left her two children injured.

Montebello police said the trio was struck Wednesday while attempting to cross the 400 block of Garfield Avenue.

The accident was reported about 8:23 p.m.

Police said the mother and her children, ages 5 and 9, were not in a crosswalk at the time.

All three were taken to a hospital, where the woman died. Both children, however, are expected to survive their injuries.

Police said the driver of the pickup stopped and cooperated with authorities. DUI was not suspected, police added.
