Mobile Home Park Residents Can Return After Officials Set Fire To Home Packed With Explosives

CATHEDRAL CITY (CBSLA.com) — Residents evacuated from a mobile home park near Palm Springs are expected to return Saturday after firefighters intentionally set fire to their neighbor's home.

The burn took place Friday afternoon at the Sungate Mobile Home Park in Cathedral City.

The bomb squad says the home was packed with explosives and bomb-making materials.

It was too dangerous to remove the explosive material so they burned the place down.

Cathedral City authorities say the man who lived there is in jail for allegedly making explosives.
