Mission Viejo Teacher Arrested On Suspicion Of Sexting With High School Student

MISSION VIEJO (CBSLA.com) — A 25-year-old high school teacher suspected of sending inappropriate text messages to his student in Mission Viejo has been arrested, deputies said Monday.

Justin Verducci, of Irvine, was arrested in front of his home on suspicion of child annoyance and sexual communication with a known minor online, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

"On Friday, sheriff's investigators were contacted by the student's parents who indicated they discovered several inappropriate text messages on their daughter's phone," said Lt. Jeff Hallock. "The messages were sexual in nature and exchanged between their daughter and Verducci."

Over the weekend, Special Victim's Unit investigators say they obtained information that proved the allegations that Verducci was sexting with a 16-year-old student at Capistrano Valley High School, where he is employed as a math teacher.

Verducci is being held on $20,000 at the Orange County Jail. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

Anyone with information regarding additional victims has been urged to contact the Orange County Sheriff's Department's Special Victim's Unit at (714) 647-7418 or (714) 647-7000.
