Missing Your 150-Pound Tortoise In Alhambra? Call Animal Control

ALHAMBRA (CBSLA.com) —  Animal Control officers in Alhambra would like to reunite a 150-pound tortoise with its rightful owner.

The hefty reptile was found about 1 p.m.

Authorities didn't want to say exactly where the tortoise was found hoping the person claiming ownership can establish a relationship through a location. (They don't get far, you know.)

Alhambra police Sgt. Esther Rodriguez said two officers got the tortoise into a patrol car and took it to headquarters.

From there, Animal Control officer from Downey came to pick it up.

The tortoise did not have tags or any distinguishing features, like painted nails, authorities said.

Officials are of the belief the well-cared-for animal is someone's pet but haven't ruled out it might be wild or abandoned.

The rightful owner should call Animal Control at (562) 940-6898.
