L.A. police say two boys missing from Westlake foster home may have been abducted by their mother

An Amber Alert has been issued as police continue searching for two children reported missing from Los Angeles' Westlake District early Thursday morning. 

The boys, 2-year-old Derek Alejandro Rodriguez-Hernandez, and 10-year-old Jaden Hernandez, were last seen at around 1:30 a.m. in the 300 block of S. Virgil Avenue near Third Street, according to Los Angeles police. They said that the location where the boys were reported missing may be a foster home.

Investigators say that they are considered critical missing and possibly heading to a home in South Los Angeles.

In a news release, LAPD investigators said that the boys' mother, Jackeline Hernandez-Torres, is believed to have taken them from the Westlake home and fled. 

They say that she may be driving a black 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser with the Indiana license plate DFT105. 

She is described as standing about five feet tall and weighing 120 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a light colored shirt and dark sweatpants.

Police described Jaden as a male with black hair and brown eyes. He is about four feet tall and weighs around 50 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark shirt and dark pants, police said. 

Derek is described as a male with red hair and brown eyes. He is about two feet tall and weighs approximately 20 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark shirt and dark pants as well, police noted.

Video showed the moments that officers searched a recreational vehicle, near 52nd Street and Denker Avenue, about six miles away from where they went missing, but no one was found inside.
