Mischa Barton Sues Mother Over Lost Earnings

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Mischa Barton has sued her mother, claiming she has stolen money earned during her acting career.

The 29-year-old former star of the television series "The O.C." filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Los Angeles. Barton's suit also claims her mother, Nuala Barton, has kicked her out of a multimillion-dollar Beverly Hills home bought with money earned from her early career.

Nuala Barton served as her daughter's manager. The lawsuit claims Nuala Barton lied about the amount her daughter was being paid for a 2013 film and pocketed the difference.

Mischa Barton was 17 when she began working on "The O.C." Before that, she appeared in the films "Notting Hill" and "The Sixth Sense."
