Minimum-Security Inmate Escapes From Conservation Camp Near Azusa

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST (CBSLA.com) — A minimum-security inmate escaped from a conservation camp overnight near Azusa.

Kevin Shann, 40, was last seen at 10:25 p.m. Sunday in his assigned dorm at the Julius Klein Conservation Camp during a routine security check.

He was discovered missing an hour later, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Shann, who was serving a four-year sentence for a first-degree burglary conviction and was expected to be released in 2016, was described as white, 6 feet 3 inches tall, 197 pounds, with brown eyes and hair.

Local law enforcement agencies, as well as the California Highway Patrol, are assisting in the search.
