Angels Outfielder Mike Trout Recovering From Car Crash

TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles Angels All-Star outfielder Mike Trout was recovering Thursday from a car accident that left a woman seriously injured in Tustin.

According to the Angels, Trout will accompany the team on a flight to Seattle, despite his involvement in the crash.

The collision unfolded just before 9 p.m. Wednesday on the 55 Freeway at McFadden Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol officers.

A preliminary investigation revealed Trout slammed on the breaks of his black Mercedes to avoid another crash, which subsequently caused him to collide with two other vehicles.

The impact of the crash trapped a woman in her 20s inside her Chevrolet. She was transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The Angels star was not injured in the crash.

The team's general manager released the following statement on Twitter Wednesday evening.

Trout was not charged in connection with the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
