21 Injured In Metrolink Train Collision In Sun Valley, LAFD Says

SUN VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Twenty-one people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries Tuesday after a Metrolink train carrying 187 passengers collided with a big rig in Sun Valley.

The collision was reported at 10:40 a.m. in the 8200 block of San Fernando Road.

The train was stalled at the scene of the crash for about an hour Tuesday morning as Los Angeles Fire Department crews worked to determine the number and extent of passengers' injuries.

The train resumed its trip from Lancaster to downtown Los Angeles shortly before 12 p.m.

Twenty-one people were treated for minor injuries, the fire department said.

A witness told KCAL9's Dave Lopez that the truck had attempted to cross the train tracks just as the train was approaching.

The train apparently clipped the back of the truck.

The train came to an abrupt stop, and some passengers reported pain in their neck and back, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
