Service Interrupted After Gold Line Train Hits Vehicle In East LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —  Service was suspended on part of the Metro Gold Line after a collision between a train and a vehicle Thursday in East Los Angeles.

A Metro spokesperson said service was halted between the East L.A. Civic Center and Atlantic stations after a car turned in front of the train near the intersection of Third Street and Mednik Avenue just after 5 p.m.

SKY2's Stu Mundel reports one person from the vehicle was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

No one aboard the train was injured, sheriff's Lt. Leo Bauer said.

Shuttle buses were brought in to transport passengers, resulting in delays of up to 20 minutes, according to Metro's Dave Sotero.

No further information was available.
