Meryl Streep Receives 18th Oscar Nomination

BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Actress Meryl Streep received her 18th Academy Award nomination Thursday, the most for any actor.

Streep, who was first nominated in 1979 for her role in "The Deer Hunter", has won the coveted statue three times for roles in "The Iron Lady", "The French Lieutenant's Woman," and "Kramer vs. Kramer".

The 64-year-old has five more nominations that both Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson.

Thursday's nomination was best actress in her latest film, "August: Osage County".

Streep is also the most-monimated actor in Golden Globe history with 23 nods.

The Oscar statues will be handed out on March 2 in Los Angeles.
