Menifee Student Injured In Small Explosion At High School

MENIFEE (CBSLA.com) — Two students were detained and another student was treated for injuries Friday following an explosion on the campus of Heritage High School in Menifee.

The detonation reportedly happened around 9:15 a.m., according to Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy Armando Munoz.

"There was a small explosion that left a student with minor injuries," Munoz told City News Service. "The campus was immediately placed on lockdown."

Deputies arrived moments later and detained two youths for questioning, but they were not arrested, Munoz said.

The injured teenager was treated at the scene by paramedics, but it was not immediately clear whether he was transported to a hospital.

It was not yet known what the source of the detonation was.

The campus lockdown was lifted sometime before 11 a.m., according to Munoz.
