Men Crawl From Wreckage In Malibu Canyon

MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — A car careened off a cliff overnight in Malibu leaving all three passengers injured, one critically.

The men were able to crawl from the wreckage after the car plunged 200 feet into a canyon, according to Sgt. Diane Hecht of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

Hecht said the car was "virtually destroyed" after veering off Kanan Dume Road shortly after midnight Saturday.

"Rescue personnel rappelled down to the crash site, loaded the men onto rescue baskets, and hoisted them up the canyon," Hecht said.

The search and rescue operation took more than 90 minutes, Diaz said.
