Members of "booster crew" arrested for high-end thefts totaling nearly $4 million
Authorities have announced a number of arrests connected to what they called a "booster crew" that stole nearly $4 million in merchandise from various stores across Los Angeles County.
Investigators say that the merchandise stolen included high-end handbags, fragrances, scented candles, cosmetics, clothing and over-the-counter medication, according to a release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Those items were then taken to different locations across the county where they were sold to fence operations.
Multiple search warrants were served over the course of the operation, which led to seven arrests and the seizure of a large amount cash and evidence connected to the thefts at as man as 17 different retailers.
The suspects were all arrested on suspicion of organized retail theft, grand theft and receiving stolen property.
Investigators say that the retailers that partnered with their operation included Target, ULTA Beauty, CVS, Bath & Body Works, Macy's, TJ Maxx and Nordstroms.
