Mega Millions, Powerball Jackpots Swell To Combined $671M

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — This holiday weekend could bring true independence to a lucky Mega Millions or Powerball player – especially for someone who plays both!

The Mega Millions jackpot stands at an estimated $415 million for Friday night's draw, but the chance to win big doesn't end there – Powerball's jackpot is at an estimated $243 million for Saturday night's drawing.

California Lottery officials say Friday's draw could be the third-largest Mega Millions jackpot of all time, and the 10th largest in U.S. history. Mega Millions has rolled 31 times since the jackpot reset to $15 million on March 12.

If no tickets match all six Mega Millions numbers, the jackpot will roll over to an estimated $449 million for Tuesday night's draw.

Powerball, the multi-state game whose tickets are $2, will be drawn at 7:59 p.m. Saturday.
