Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches Fourth-Highest Amount Ever

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The California Mega Millions lottery has reached it fourth-highest amount ever and is tied for the 12th-largest jackpot in U.S. history, being estimated at around $390 million

The Mega Millions jackpot was last hit back on March 8 when an individual won $157 million after matching all six numbers on a ticket that was purchased in Seattle.  A Californian hasn't hit the jackpot since 2014 when the contestant won $180 million on a ticket bought in Calimesa in Riverside County.

If someone were to hit the Mega Millions jackpot Tuesday night, they'll have the option of taking the $390 million spread out over 30 years or taking a lump sum amount of $265.4 millions before taxes.

The jackpot for the Mega Millions will roll over to an estimated $415 million for Friday night's draw if there's no winner Tuesday night.
