WATCH: Massive Explosion Occurs At Burbank Power Substation

BURBANK (CBSLA) – An explosion occurred late Friday morning at a power substation in Burbank.

The explosion occurred before noon at Burbank Water and Power switching station in the 1800 block of North Lincoln Street. There were no injuries or damage to nearby homes, Burbank police said.

Some power was reportedly interrupted in the aftermath of the fire, but there was no widespread outage, said Burbank police Sgt. Derek Green.

Pacific and Monterey avenues were shut down between Brighton and Myers streets, Burbank police said. Access to some residential streets off Victory Boulevard were also closed.

The surrounding streets were re-opened to traffic by 1:30 p.m., Burbank police announced.

There was no word yet from BWP on what caused the explosion. Burbank Fire Department and BWP crews were on scene.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or houses damaged in the explosion.
