Former Marine Gets Life In Prison For Killing Another Marine's Wife In Twentynine Palms

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — A former marine convicted of killing another marine's wife was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

On Nov. 3, Christopher Brandon Lee, 27, was found guilty of first-degree murder and lying in wait for killing 19-year-old Erin Corwin.

Prosecutors said Lee was having an affair with the victim, who was pregnant with his child when she was strangled.

Her body was dumped in an abandoned mine shaft outside Twentynine Palms on Aug. 16, 2014.

Before the sentence was announced, Corwin's family spoke in court.

"Erin will always be my husband's baby sister," the victim's sister-in-law, DeeAna Heavilin, said as she wiped tears that were streaming down her cheek. "And now, we will never get to know the woman that she was growing to be."

"I request that you give Chris the sentence of life without the possibility of parole so that justice for Erin will be served and make sure this does not happen to anyone else," the victim's mother Lore Heavilin said.
