Marco Rubio On 2016 Campaign Swing Through California

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio is turning to a state known as a perennial source of campaign dollars.

In California, Rubio has private fundraisers on his agenda in San Francisco and in Los Angeles. The Florida senator also plans to deliver a speech Tuesday in Los Angeles, the only public event on his two-day swing.

It's unclear if California will factor in a Republican primary fight, apart from its concentration of donors.

If the nomination is locked up in the campaign's early stages, California's June 2016 primary election could be a mere formality. But it could also become a battleground if the race is tight.

It's Rubio's first visit to California since he declared his candidacy this month.
