Missing 76-Year-Old Oceanside Man Found Dead Near Lake Los Angeles

PALMDALE (CBSLA.com)  — A missing Oceanside man was found dead Saturday in an unincorporated desert area near Lake Los Angeles, officials said.

Nickolaos Christidis, 76, was found around 11:30 a.m. by members of the LASD and the civilian volunteer search and rescue teams, according to Oceanside Police.

His body was located approximately ¾ of a mile away from where his black 2015 Honda Civic was found on August 12.

Christidis voluntarily left his home on the evening of July 22nd. His family said Christidis suffered from dementia. He placed several calls to family the first day he was missing saying he would be home soon. Subsequent calls went to voice mail.

His vehicle was located by a deputy performing random patrol. The vehicle was located stuck in the sand off a rural dirt road. There have been no indications of foul play, police said.

Family members were notified by Oceanside Police Department personnel.
