Manhattan Beach Agrees To $3M Settlement In Flying Golf Disc Lawsuit

MANHATTAN BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A Hermosa Beach woman blinded in one eye by a flying golf disc at Polliwog Park reportedly settled her lawsuit against the city for $3 million.

Noreen Goodbody filed her lawsuit in July 2013, claiming she was struck by a disc while watching her teenage daughter run at the park in August 2012.

Goodbody has undergone surgeries and other procedures to the tune of more than $202,000 following the injury, the Daily Breeze reported. She was unable to work for four months, is not able to drive on the freeway or walk on inclines because of a lack of depth perception because of the injury, the newspaper reported.

The city of Manhattan Beach reportedly contributed $500,000 to the final settlement amount, which was mostly covered by the city's risk management group policy, according to the newspaper.
