Suspect In Metro Bus Attacks Arrested
HUNTINGTON PARK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Friday arrested a man in connection with several stabbings on Metro buses across the LA area.
Hector Resendez, 24, was taken into custody without incident around 11:45 a.m. at a USA Gas station at Pacific Boulevard and Slauson Avenue in Huntington Park, an hour after an attack took place at Atlantic and Slauson in Maywood.
Another assault was reported around 5:30 a.m. when a 56-year-old victim was stabbed with a screwdriver near Avenue 26 and Figueroa in Cypress Park.
According to officials, six similar attacks happened between June 16 and June 24, the Sheriff's Department said. All injuries have been non-life-threatening.
"It appears he sits behind the apparent victims ... and he sees as the bus is coming to a stop ... then he gets up and grabs his weapon and stabs the victim once or twice," Cmdr. Ronene Anda said.
