Attempted Murder Suspect In Custody Following Standoff At Bell Gardens Home

BELL GARDENS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Monday were on the scene of a barricade situation at a home in Bell Gardens.

According to the Bell Gardens Police Department, a sheriff's SWAT team was sent to a home located in the 6000 block of Live Oak Street near Florence and Ira avenues for report of a possible barricade.

Upon their arrival, officers learned a man, who is wanted for attempted murder, barricaded himself inside of the home with a possible family member.

At 7:30 a.m., a child safely exited from inside of the home.

SWAT team members deployed tear gas, which subsequently led the suspect to exit the home.

Jose Navarro, 31, was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday in the 5800 block of Quinn Street.

No injuries were reported during the standoff.
