Man Wanted For Allegedly Stabbing Estranged Wife In Santa Ana

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A man suspected of stabbing his estranged wife early Wednesday morning is at large and wanted by police.

Javier Luis Cervantes, 24, is believed to have stolen his estranged wife's 2013 silver Ford Edge, with a CA license 6WPY897, Santa Ana police officials said.

The woman, whose name was not released, arrived home early Wednesday with her two children, ages 6 and 7, and put them to bed. As she moved into another room, police say she was then attacked by Cervantes, who was lying in wait for her.

Cervantes sexually assaulted his estranged wife, then stabbed her multiple times with a knife, police said. The woman, who sustained injuries and severe bleeding, escaped from the apartment and called police.

The children were not harmed and their mother was taken to a local hospital where she is was listed in stable condition, police said.
