Man Walking On I-5 Near Pyramid Lake Struck And Killed

CASTAIC (AP) — The California Highway Patrol says a man walking in lanes was struck by at least one vehicle and killed on northbound Interstate 5 in northern Los Angeles County.

Just one northbound lane is open at the scene of the collision early Tuesday near Pyramid Lake, causing traffic to be backed up for miles on the major north-south artery.

Officer Elizabeth Kravig says the pedestrian was first spotted in southbound lanes shortly before 5 a.m. Kravig says he crossed into northbound lanes and was struck by at least one and possibly two vehicles.

The drivers of two vehicles stopped and are talking to investigators.

The man died at the scene.
