Man Suspected Of Murder Shot By Long Beach Police

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man suspected of murder was shot today by Long Beach police in the Wilmington area.

The shooting took place around 11:20 a.m. in the 1700 block of Marine Avenue, authorities said.

Residents of the area told reporters they heard around five gun shots.

The suspect who was shot was transferred to a UCLA-Harbor medical center and is in critical condition.

The man was tied to a murder that occurred on September 5th that occurred in the 300 block of Hanjin Road in the Terminal Island area of Long Beach, authorities said.

The mother of the victim told CBS2's Kristine Lazar that the shooting was not justified.

No officers were injured in the incident.
