Man Suspected In Deadly Test-Drive In Ontario Declared Fugitive By Prosecutors

SAN BERNARDINO (AP) — A California man suspected in the death of a car salesman during a test-drive of a Corvette has been declared a fugitive by prosecutors.

Prosecutors say Alex Demetro, 28, of Union City was high on drugs when the car crashed into a tree last month in Ontario.

The crash killed a CarMax employee who was in the car, 43-year-old Warren Smale of Montclair.

Demetro was released from jail on bail a day after the crash. San Bernardino County authorities announced Tuesday that he's fled.

He's charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
