Man Stabbed, 2 Pistol-Whipped In Whittier Attack

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — One man was stabbed in the arm and two others were pistol-whipped in an attack in unincorporated Whittier, authorities said Tuesday.

The attack reportedly happened near the 11000 block of Painter Avenue at about 9 p.m., Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Cynthia Chavez said.

"The four victims were inside a vehicle outside a residence when they were approached by two vehicles," Chavez said. "Four suspects got out. One broke the driver's window and stabbed him in the arm."

A passenger window was rolled down and the front and rear passengers were pistol-whipped, before the gun was pointed at the female passenger.

The driver of the car accelerated to get away from the attackers and crashed into one of their vehicles, Chavez said. They went a short distance to the 11000 block of Painter Avenue, where they called authorities.

Police did not provide a description of the four attackers.

The victims were taken to a hospital. The two who had been pistol-whipped suffered minor injuries, and the man stabbed in the arm was in stable condition, she said.
